Ludwigsburg pumpkin festival

Pumpkin festivals in Germany are kind of like pumpkin patches in the States, only on a much larger scale.  This past weekend, my friends & I went to the Ludwigsburg pumpkin fest, set on the beautiful grounds of the Ludwigsburg Palace .  It was a perfect fall day, sunny but not too hot.  The pumpkin statues were really cool, and of course there was every type of pumpkin-flavored food/drink you could think of.  Pumpkin soup, pumpkin pasta, pumpkin bratwurst, pumpkin streusel, pumpkin wine, you name it.  It's apparently the largest pumpkin festival in the world.  This year, the theme was "Konig", which means King in German.  It was a fun-filled day, and a great way to start off the fall season!

From actual kings and knights to the King of Rock and the
Frog Prince.... there were all kinds of kings represented.

                                         Pumpkins galore!!

Pumpkin soup & wine - delicious!
